Just saw this on Political Wire:

A West Virginia Wesleyan survey shows Sen. John McCain leading Sen. Barack Obama in West Virginia, 49% to 44%. This is a five point improvement for Obama since late September.

Key finding: “While Obama has made impressive gains in West Virginia, nearly one in five of the survey participants continue to believe that Obama is a Muslim. Only 46.3 percent, almost the same percentage as the September survey, believe he is a Christian.”

If we assume that the 20% of people who believe Obama is a Muslim are all supporting McCain (is that a reasonable assumption?), that means that, in West Virginia, Obama is winning slightly over half of the people who do not believe he is a Muslim. That’s pretty striking.
