Even before Democrats regained control of Congress in 2006, their attempts to curtail the depredations of Bush and company were pathetic. But from 2007 on, their failures have assumed mammoth and criminal proportions, when they weren’t being simply incompetent. Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi and Steny Hoyer, along with the rest of their enablers, sold us all down the river.

It is now virtually certain that Democrats will increase their power in Congress and take the presidency in November. Naturally, the rold of Congress will be quite different with a Democratic president. Nonetheless, I think progressives should start worrying now about who will fill the leadership positions. Can we get people with more spine and ingenuity than the current lot? Who should those people be?
